We just performed four days of gigs in New Mexico. On Friday we played for a church recital series in Santa Fe. On Saturday we played for a museum concert in Albuquerque. On Sunday we played in Santa Fe for a milonga. On Monday we played a library concert in Albuqerque.
The recital in Santa Fe was hosted by Linda Raney who has worked at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Fe for 30 years! In addition to an amazing organ, the sanctuary has fabulous acoustics.
At the Albuqerque Museum we played in front of a spectacular mural (in the picture above) that represents both the globe and the cells of the body! The acoustics and audience were great. We didn’t mind the temperature difference between inside and out with Saturday’s high temperature being 104! The audience was really sweet and one member even got us a gift bag of the biscochitos, the New Mexico State cookie. Delicious anise flavored butter cookies topped with cinnamon and sugar.
On Sunday we played for a beautiful and posh milonga at the Quail Run country club in a Santa Fe subdivision. The energy was high for this performance and we were really kept on our toes by some enthusiastic and skilled dancers.
Thanks to all the folks who made our visit great!
To Kay for organizing.
To Natalie and Jeff for taking us out to the Blue Corn Cafe
To our new friend Margaret for the evening of Tapas
